I have a riddle. What has two legs, two arms, pink hair, an angelic voice, and is described as quirky?
If you answered SARAH DONNER then you've answered correct!
Last night, Sarah was my guest on the latest installment of ROCK ON RADIO. This self-stated "Electroacoustic" artist, who describes herself as "quirky," brought her talented brand of music into the studio.
We discussed her second full-length CD, "The Sleep That You've Been Missing."
This twelve-song effort, which can be found on Cat Lady Records (her own indie label), is an upbeat and melodic collection that showcases this young artist's vocal ability, as well as her "peppy" guitar
style.
Donner's lyrics, which she admits are based on her experiences in dating, her love for cats, and some hardcore punk mosh pits, are comically unique. This combination, accompanied by a truly stunning
voice and some edgy guitar; delivers her music like an incredible roller coaster ride on every tune.
Donner also has a wanderlust of sorts. She readily admits that she enjoys touring. Perhaps this comes from her time spent in London, England, where after her day job as a nanny, she'd go out to the local
pubs and play either solo or with others. Eventually, she began to play showcase sets with other Londoners as she established herself on the local scene.
Born in Massachusetts, but educated at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ, this newlywed and her husband have set down some roots in Princeton. Sarah started "Indie Music night" in Princeton
(www.myspace.com/indiemusicnight). This showcase features amateurs, as well as established, and even some well-known acts as they pass
through the area. This monthly event has received some great reviews as well as critical acclaim.
Look for SARAH DONNER throughout the United States as one never knows where she'll be next. Readily admitting that she plans tour stops around her vacation and job schedule, she can pop-up just about
anywhere at any time.
To learn more about SARAH DONNER, check her out at www.myspace.com/sarahdonner. Her music can be purchased at most major online music
outlets and, according to Sarah, at a "record store in Chicago."
This Sunday, September 6, 2009, Philadelphia, PA, rock/jazz artist The DAVID ZEE BAND (www.myspace.com/davidzeeband) will be my guests.
They also have a strong Latin influence in their music.
So turn on at 10pm EST. Tune into www.wifi1460am.com and, as always, ROCK ON!
