JOE BUBLEWICZ. What's in a name? That is the question that Joe himself asks his audiences all over the country.
Joe was my guest on the latest installment of ROCK ON RADIO this past Sunday. This was a first for the show as I deviated from my usual format.
The hour passed quickly as we discussed Joe's eighteen-year career doing stand-up comedy in clubs all across the country. Using a combination of observational and self-deprecating humor, he puts daily
life into a comical perspective. Opening his routine by immediately pointing out his unusual last name (pronounced Bubble-wits), Joe pokes fun at his own family, relationships, hotel staff and even his
Getting his start at a local open mic night in his hometown of Hamilton, NJ, Joe began attending open mic nights at larger clubs in the area. He relayed a story about his first-ever appearance at a Philadelphia
open mic where he was placed twenty third out of twenty five comics. Joe chuckled as he remembered performing his five minutes in front of an audience of three people.
Fortunately, this didn't discourage him, as he continued to return once a week for six months until he was finally offered a chance to be an opening act. From this point, he went on to open for a host
of notable comedians such as Gilbert Godfried, Tommy Chong and Ray Romano, just to name a few. Joe told us that he was playing a round of golf with Ray Romano when he received the call that his sitcom,
"Everybody Loves Raymond," had become a reality.
Today, Joe admits that the travel involved with touring nationally has taken its toll. He prefers to stay within driving distance of what he deems his "home" base of Catch a Rising Star Comedy Club in
Princeton, NJ. Still, he does shows from North Carolina to Massachusetts and all points in between.
Currently he's on the road promoting his second CD, "What'd Ya Expect," which is available for download online or CD purchase at www.joebub.com.
You may have seen and heard Joe featured on Comedy Central as well as in the regular rotation on XM radio. However, seeing JOE BUBLEWICZ live is truly the best option.
This Sunday, 9/27, I will be joined by two veterans of the national music scene. From Los Angeles, I'll be joined by ANGELO MOORE of FISHBONE and, from Philadelphia, CHUCK TREECE of McRAD. I will also
be joined by Terry Loda of DEAD SCENE PRODUCTIONS.
So turn on at 10pm EST... tune in to www.wifi1460am.com and, as always... ROCK ON!
