Sunday's ROCK ON RADIO show was the first ever two-hour Christmas Special. The studio was full of many friends, sponsors, and well wishers. My guest for the first hour was Bucks County, PA singer/songwriter
LISA JONES.
Jones, an energetic, enthusiastic artist, is taking some time off from her band project (13 South) to pursue a solo effort. Currently, she is gathering some of her own material, as well as some that
she penned with 13 South, and preparing to head into the studio.
A life-long resident of Bucks County, Jones told us that 13 South derived its name from the Highway 13 which runs directly behind her home. She also spoke fondly of how the drone of cars on the highway
inspires some of her writing, even going as far as comparing them to waves crashing on the beach. Jones also draws inspiration and ideas from the bible and certain scriptures. This different combination
of influences makes for a truly unique style of music.
Now, don't misconstrue that as her being a "bible thumper" or "Christian Rocker," she's anything but. Actually, her music has been described as mixture of "rock, funk, blues and beer." This solo project
that she is undertaking, her first, debuts on 12/31 in Newtown, PA, at Zebra Stripes Gourmet Ice Cream as part of the town's "First Night" celebration.
On the show, we played two cuts from the band's debut CD "13 SOUTH." On the CD, JONES was the sole instrumentalist, as well as vocals on numerous tracks. In her new acoustic endeavor, she hopes to repeat
the same process.

On this night I took the show to two hours. The second hour featured holiday tracks from numerous Indie artists and past guests of the show. A personal highlight for me was a phone call that I received
from an incredible artist (in my humble opinion) in British Columbia, Canada, PAULINE KYLLONEN (www.myspace.com/paulinekyllonen). PAULINE'S
self-titled CD was recently logged in at number eight on the ReverbNation charts. Her strong vocals and great writing style are definitely a cut above the rest.
I also featured songs from the amazing LAURA CHEADLE, BOB & MAGGIE FURDA, THE WILLIAMSBOY, AFFERENT CUE, and 4STAR.
Over all, the night was a success with lots of revelry and merry making.
