BD MYLO's amazing voice and stunning good looks are exceeded only by
her overall talent! This Cherry Hill, NJ native combines extremely powerful
vocals with fantastic songwriting, all wrapped up in a rockin' blues package
that only she can deliver.
This soft-spoken songstress, who lists her influences as Koko Taylor,
Etta James, and Eva Cassidy, can most certainly do justice to all three.
MYLO's vocal styling is so versatile that she could be doing a lounge act
one night, and a gritty blues set the very next.
Currently, she fronts the GO DADDYS, a blues-based band out of the
Philadelphia, PA area. Now, for those of you who think that you have a certain
picture of blues music in your mind. You know, the stereotypical idea of
"the blues"? You can throw them all right out of the window.
On their CD, "BD MYLO and The GO DADDYS.. .I CAN'T LOSE," BD's abilities
are in full range, at times sultry, and others raw and edgy. Backed up by
an incredibly versatile and talented cast on stage, MYLO is a pleasure to
watch perform.
In studio, she was accompanied by her guitarist STEVE O'DONNELL. This
part-time GO DADDYS player is currently working with MYLO on her first-ever
solo project. On air, O'DONNELL played an extremely complimentary acoustic
guitar to MYLO's vocals. Admitting to me later that evening that he prefers
the energy of an electric, he loves to rock out on stage. On occasion, he'll
get to do just that as a fill-in player with the GO DADDYS.
On this side solo project, MYLO's sound almost, at times, takes on a
country feel - once again showcasing her versatile range. Sharing with us
that she writes all of her own lyrics as well as music, she told us that
she writes on her piano, yet doesn't claim to be a piano player. She uses
the instrument to produce a melody to go with lyrics, which often come on
a moment's notice.
BD confessed to us that her car is full of crib notes which are written
on napkins, scrap paper and anything else that she may find available at
the time because she claims that she does her "best songwriting while driving."
All in all, this young and very talented performer is worth seeing. Currently,
BD MYLO and the GO DADDYS play the first Saturday of every month at Red
Hot and Blue, a local BBQ bar/restaurant in Cherry Hill, NJ.
You can also find her solo act with O'DONNELL on guitar, at the Indie
Acoustic Songwriters Showcase at Katmandu in Trenton, NJ from time to time.

This Sunday, Willingboro, NJ blues man NORMAN TAYLOR joins me in studio.
Playing a more traditional blues style, he's a staple at many tri-state
area blues festivals and coffee houses (www.myspace.com/normantaylormusic).
I'd also once again like to mention two new affiliates. Recently, ROCK
ON RADIO has been picked up by Los Angeles, CA-based
www.Indie104.com
as well as Hoboken, NJ station
www.creekradio.net.
I wish to thank them for welcoming me into their line up.
Turn on... Tune in... and, as always... ROCK ON!
