ANTHONY "FAST ANT" CANNULI is a singer/songwriter from Hamilton, NJ who's best described
as a "young veteran" of the music scene.
This "thirty something" musician and school teacher began plying his trade back in the early
'90s by teaching himself how to play guitar by watching a friend who knew how to do so. CANNULI
also comes from a musical family as well. His father is a seasoned jazz drummer and his younger
brother is a bass guitarist. To this day, he still utilizes their talents from time to time
on recordings and the occasional live performance.
A previous member of the bands Shinebox and The SGs, he broke away from the group setting
to form his own project. The current "FAST ANT" project has been in existence for quite some
time now. On ROCK ON RADIO, CANNULLI brought along his most recent CD "FAST "ANT"OLOGY." This
ten-song anthology is a compilation of his first four EPs and CDs that span his brief, yet full
career up to this point.
In studio, CANNULI brought along a school student of his, young guitar prodigy MAX SCHRAGER.
An extremely talented player at the tender age of fourteen, this kid can shred with the best.
I was very impressed with the smoothness and agility that he displayed as he accompanied "FAST
ANT" on his electric guitar for the original song "Termites." This young gun is going to be
a force to reckon with one day and, if so, remember where you heard it first!
In an effort to support local original artists and their music, CANNULI hosts a weekly open
mic every Tuesday evening beginning at 9pm at THE CELLAR @ THE HAMILTON MANOR in Yardville,
NJ. There is no registration needed, and the room is fantastic!
CANNULI is a regular at several local showcases and open mics himself. Fortunately for myself,
he asks me to often accompany him on stage at several of the venues at which he performs. Most
recently, I joined him at CAFE IMPROV in Princeton, NJ for an enjoyable evening of original
music that was topped off by an impromptu jam session at the end with nearly all of the evening's
performers. Some of our performance together can be found on his recently created (by another
former ROCK ON RADIO guest, MIKE MATISA) YouTube site
