LEAH LeGRACE, just three days past her thirteenth birthday - along with her entourage - invaded the ROCK ON RADIO studios this past Sunday evening.
This young lady from Stockton, NJ is poised to make her entry into the music world. With a self-titled EP, a manager, a trailer, and an experienced back-up band, LeGRACE hits the ground running. A product of producer CHRIS BADAMI, LeGRACE packs a lot of energy into her tiny frame.
Prior to her appearance on ROCK ON RADIO, I took the time to check out her Myspace page (www.myspace.com/leahlegrace)
which features several of her live video performances. In these video clips, LeGRACE exudes
a confidence that's usually reserved for more experienced performers. Leah's on-stage presence is a
combination of dance moves, and pop rock maneuvers. This blogger feels that she and her
musical/vocal styling can best be described as "Disney artist meets Paramore." I apparently am not
the first to state this, as she's drawn comparisons to both over her short-yet-effective career.
LeGRACE made her radio debut on my program. I was honored to introduce this Leah, who I found to
be a very polite, shy young woman, to the air waves. Unlike on stage where she engages the audience
head on, she was very laid back with her youthful innocence coming through with every smile as she
answered question after question from this host, as well as callers and e-mailers alike.
Along with Leah came her band, which is comprised of MIKE MATLACK and STEVE NAKOVICH on guitar,
MIKE KLEMASH on bass guitar, and MICAH JACOBUS on drums. These four stellar backing musicians equal
her energy on stage and compliment her style very well. I also found them to be very polite and
likeable fellows but, more importantly, they all understand their role with LEAH LeGRACE. The
fact that these gentlemen are older than their band mate doesn't affect them in any manner. They all
seem to willingly allow Leah the spotlight, while acting in an almost collective "big brother" role.
Recently, LeGRACE and her band performed at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ as part of
their "Live and Local" series. Several of the callers into the program had seen her performance at
this venue and telephoned to heap compliments upon her for her professionalism and "family style"
entertainment. To find out more about her upcoming appearances, one may do so through her Myspace
page or by e-mailing her at [email protected].
Pay attention and stay on the watch for LEAH LeGRACE as this amazing teen has only just begun to
scratch the surface of her potential.
This Sunday, August 15, at 10pm EST, JOE VADALA returns to ROCK ON RADIO. This seasoned Jersey
musician hosts a very popular open mic, is a former member of JOEY & THE WORKS and LABAMBA & THE
HUBCAPS and has a big show coming up at the Burlington Amphitheater on 8/21 which will feature many
indie/original artists.
Turn on... tune in... and... ROCK ON!
