What a strange world. Jesse Ventura's got a Conspiracy Theory show, a bunch of scary half-literate conservatives have hijacked the term "Tea Party" for their own selfish agenda and, me? I am driving almost the whole length of the country, to Wyoming and Utah from NYC and back, and there isn't he slightest hint of a gig for me in the itinerary. Yikes!
So what am I doing? Well, not sure who's business that is, but while I am out here, I've got work to do. I always feel a little bad when great things happen to and around me and I don't respond to it here on Chorus and Verse. I apologize for not covering the Dixie Mattress Festival out in Paisely, Oregon in late June, for not bringing you to Mercersburg, PA to Blackwoods, not telling the stories of some extra shoots in the city this summer, specifically out in Staten Island at the baseball stadium, and not interviewing all the guys at Terra Blues.
If I can, maybe I can dig up some old photos from some of these things and throw them up as some cute afterthoughts, but what's important now is this: I am awake, in Ohio, somewhere in the middle of America. I will be dining in Chicago later and then pushing on to the Mountain Time Zone.
I've got to wrap this up due to the fact that I need a shower and my check-out time is approaching, but here is what I have in mind: along with little comments about this trip, adventures, food reviews, etc., I have brought a number of friends' albums along, and I am plan to listen to them all the way through. If I am compelled to, I will do some writing about them (and I will try to keep positive, these are friends after all). My playlist includes Quincy Mumford, Rick Barry, the Denmark Veseys, the Dugger Brothers and more. So, I'll post my pictures and reviews whenever I can get online, so that I don't feel my usual missed opportunity guilt, and so that you can be there with me as I experience this strange country.
