My guest this past Sunday evening on ROCK ON RADIO were two members of Philadelphia-area band HANGMAN'S CRY.
These rockin' masters of '80's-style metal have recently been signed to Toil Records and are in the process of recording their first full-length, still untitled, CD.
I was joined in-studio by lead singer/guitarist EDDIE "SHAKEY" SHANK and lead guitarist KEVIN BECKER. Unfortunately, bass guitarist JOHNNY "BALBINO" BARNES and drummer BILL LAWSON were unavailable for this interview. "SHAKEY," as he's known by (and didn't divulge as to why), founded HANGMAN'S CRY back in the year 2000. A self-taught guitarist who wanted to be a drummer, he began to put together his own project after years of playing in cover and original bands. Driven out of a love for '80's-style hard rock as well as the desire to help "bring it back," he recruited newest member BECKER two years ago and the line up has been the same ever since.
Currently, HANGMAN'S CRY is maintaining a low-profile gig schedule due to the recording of their first CD. However, this Friday, Oct. 8, they will be opening up for veteran rockers SKID ROW in Philadelphia at WHISKEY TANGO (www.whiskeytangotavern.com). For ticket information, please go to the Whiskey Tango web site, or visit HANGMAN'S CRY at www.hangmanscry.com. This show is one of just several through the end of the year that the band has booked due to the demands of their recording schedule.
I was informed that after their CD is released, Toil Records plans on doing a heavy promotional blitz that will include having the band's CD available in outlets online as well as in stores such as Target and other retail outlets. There is also a CD release party in the works, as well as some other promotional events, and there may even be a tour in their future.
So keep an eye on HANGMAN'S CRY out of Philadelphia, PA. These guys are ready to rock their past back into your future!
This Sunday, Oct. 10, on this week's ROCK ON RADIO, another Pennsylvania artist makes his way into the studio. Bucks County's own CHUCK SCHAEFFER. This rocking country/blues artist refuses to sound like your "typical country." Tune in at 10pm EST to www.wifiam1460.com or multiple other outlets and ROCK ON!
