Ok, after a long weekend at the Light Of Day in Asbury Park, with a set to perform in the afternoon at the Wonder Bar, as well as stage managing, and then some sitting in at the Stone Pony, and then a long epic Bruce Springsteen appearance at the Paramount later in the evening, well, with all that's been going on, I am still a little beat up from it. You didn't hear about it? Well, it was in ALL the papers...
So, Indie Solutions, my little consulting company that you may have been reading about in some of my more recent blogs, has gotten itself together. What was once a casual endeavor to garner favor is now, not so slowly, becoming a business. When last we spoke of InSo, there were offices to check out in Asbury Park and clients on the line. Now? Now I am pleased to announce that not only has Indie Solutions been working with a great client, but they are ready to launch themselves.
Asbury Blues, a new music venue/restaurant will be opening this Friday, January 21st at 610 Bangs Avenue with an all-star jam hosted by the Chuck Lambert Band. A "blues club"? Yup, Indie Solutions will be doing the curating and booking of music down there and is real proud and excited to be working with such a great cast of characters. There will be an excellent array of talent with locals, regionals and nationals on the calendar. BBQ, Cajun, and other Southern-inspired food, creative cocktails, an amazing mural from Chris Hartsgrove behind the bar and, of course, the exclusive right to call itself the Jersey Shore's ONLY blues club.
Although it needs updating, www.asburyblues.net has links to join us on Facebook, so click on over and say hello.
Our opening weekend leads off with Chuck Lambert (and a whole lot of all-star talent!) on Friday night, the Eryn Shewell Band on Saturday and, on Sunday, our matinee will be Sandy Mack and the Asbury Allstars, followed by a special Songwriters Show with Rick Barry. Other notable names on the schedule include Saron Crenshaw, Gary Wright, Bobby Radcliff, Junior Mack, Valerie June, Jennifer Jordan and the Incinerators.
It's all very exciting, but, trust me, it's a lot of work. Keeping a regular job, trying to build a music career and starting a company whose first client is another business just getting itself off the ground... it's wearing me out!
Anyway, to learn more about the club and the booking situation, or to just say hi, send an email off to [email protected].
Thanks and I hope to see you all this weekend!
