Even though the Northeast has been getting a steady barrage of snow over these last couple months, I can't seem to get myself some classic and ridiculous gig doing Buffet and Eagles tunes in a tiki bar on some anonymous island in the Caribbean or the South Pacific. Instead, I am heading for the mountains, the Rockies that is, and, in just a few days, I'll be landing in Denver, a big elevated city that I know almost nothing about. Of course, I have been to Colorado and I've been lucky enough to play a few gigs there, but I must admit, I've spent more time in the Alps of Switzerland than I have out there, so this should be an exciting new adventure.
Lots of changes going on in life, peoples, and with those changes comes other new adventures. A lot of you regular readers may have been following along as I got Indie Solutions together, and you may also have been checking in as Asbury Blues got itself opened and successfully became Asbury's new music hotspot. Well, when I return from this Rocky Mountain tour, with me, the guitar and the harmonicas, my life will look much, much different, which I plan to chat about with you over the coming weeks.
As is my way, when I do take an excursion out into the world, I try to write about it as much as I can, film what I can, take pictures, etc. Some of this will show up here, exclusively at Chorus and Verse, and some of it may get broadcast from Facebook, or Twitter, or some other little platform. We'll see how it all goes, but, in the meantime, look out for some print media stuff hitting the stands this month.
There should be a familiar face smiling on the cover of Big City Blues Magazine (bigcitybluesmag.com) for Feb/Mar and if you pick up the NY Times on Thursday the 10th, hidden back in the Real Estate section is a great article on Asbury Park and its new home for booze, blues and bbq.
So, anyway, here is the itinerary for the Colorado tour, and, if you can, please spread the word! My friends at Rocky Mountain Artists have done a lot of work to make this happen and not only should their efforts not be in vain, but this is a whole new market for me and I'd love to make it a place I can return to.
