So, I am here in Colorado. Haven't had much of a time to run around and see stuff, or climb mountains or whatever it is people do out here, but instead I had had the chance to lay low and see some old friends. At the moment, I'm in Golden and it's late and I'm watching the Wire. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to catch tonight's episode of Young Justice, my current favorite cartoon, but such is life. You make mistakes, you miss things you want, things don't always work out in ways you want them to.
Anyway, I'll wake tomorrow and the "real" beginning to this trip starts: the tour, the music and the gigs and stuff. That's what brings me here. So much of my attention over the last couple months has been on other things, I've almost forgotten what it is that I need to do out here. For those of you that don't go out on the road, or for those of you that aren't doing too many gigs back to back, you'll need to know that this is a physical thing. Yes, we all may THINK we know this, but until you are actually getting on stage, giving everything, and then doing that night after night, well, it's then that you realize how difficult this can be. Like, if you jump into the game without being in shape, let alone stretching first.
So, tomorrow, when I wake up, at some point I am going to have to do something with my voice. I need to warm it up and I am also going to have to play guitar for a little while, since I am not up to par there, either. Yikes, I should keep it on the DL, or else no one will come and see me at these gigs!
So, as much as this is going to be a lot of work physically, it'll be even more work since I have never been to ANY of these venues and, honestly, I don't think I am going to know any people, with few exceptions, at any of them either.
All this said, I am pretty excited, because if you have gone out and have done shows outside your area, if you've left the comfort zone and familiar clubs, you know how adventurous it is. If you haven't had that chance yet, I highly suggest coming up with a way to do so.
Already, problems have arisen. A debit card didn't get off the flight with me, so I have no access to the bank account presently, nor can I rent a car. A gig in Boulder got cancelled, which was kind of an important one, and I can only hope that things just get better from here.
