Ages ago, it seems, I wrote about a secret obsession I had with dance music, something about being a "dance club diva" comes to mind, but for the life of me, I can't seem to find that blog...
Not important. But what is important is that about six months ago or so, I dropped into a friend's studio to sing over some tracks. Yes. I laid my voice over some house music, something I am not regularly doing, something I would officially say that I am lacking some experience. Mike Pearl, the producer, and I literally met in the musicians section of Craigslist (and I bring that up to demonstrate the rare moments when those meetings bare fruit), maybe two bored guys, maybe two hungry artists, who knows.
The important thing, as I started to mention above, is that on our second time in the studio we were a bit happy with the results. Time goes on, things happen, people take a listen here and there, and, suddenly, I get a call. Below you will find a little video that was put up this weekend featuring a track called Dora, that officially gets released on Crossborder Records this coming May over in the UK.
I am still not sure how the whole thing worked out, or even what it will lead to, since I have never really found myself in the "House" music scene. But please feel free to click and listen to what a guy who manages blues clubs, plays Jerry Garcia tunes on mandolin to German Deadheads and who really digs Batman cartoons will do when someone asks him to sing over some dance music tracks.
