Well, this is going to be a quick one, ladies and gents, since the "real" goods worth reading come a little later.
Tonight, I am home in my Brooklyn flat, sorting through emails, and papers, doing the light packing and pondering a trip to do some laundry. There isn't much time for sleeping, although I have secured a nice spot with either a pool or a Jacuzzi, not sure which, to rest up at outside the downtown. With any luck, there will be a nice little breakfast place a short walk away from my little poolside hideaway, but we'll see what happens...
Tomorrow, my band mates in Hands Off My Sister and I will rendezvous at Newark Airport for our flight to San Antonio and then I look forward to the interesting terrain that this exotic place called "Texas" will offer us from the highway to Austin. I know I wrote about this already, but we are a New York City, raucous, rootsy thing and we've been playing solely in the downtown for way too long, so this trip is kinda huge for us. As a band, we'll surely grow and, with luck, we'll get some bump in our career, but I think what will be most exciting will be the hustle and bustle of the festival.
Rumor has it, over five thousand bands are going to be vying for what attention that can get as they jump from gig to party to lunch to party back to gig, etc, all day and into the night. Hands Off has got some cool gigs which I will be posting up and hopefully they get us some attention.
So, like I said, this is just the quick message out to all of you before the real magic begins in this crazy, legendary little music town called Austin. Keep checking in...
