Hey, Chorus and Verse readers. It’s me, the editor, and I’m here to editorialize. As you can see by the fliers plastered all over the site, Cristina Gargoyl is putting together another TVC-15 event in Asbury Park. Attendee's ears are promised more punk and heavy rock through the DJ’s AT-RS3, the Messenger, Ataribaby and New York City’s Charlie the Slut. Like last time, its only the heavy stuff – Stooges, Ramones, etc. This time a group of artists, 11 eleven, will be on hand, too. At the last TVC-15, I saw Cristina’s brother Karl, a journalistic comrade of mine, moshing it up. Come down this Saturday and shake it. Maybe you’ll see a journalistic comrade of yours. It’s at Jimi’s Nightclub, 106 2nd Avenue in Asbury Park. Or just go next to the Stone Pony and walk under the big sign that says Jimi. It’s $7 to get in or $5 if you surf the site, find the show’s flyer and print it out. Oh, yeah, myself and Matt grabbed a beer at Jimi’s some time back and saw some Chorus and Verse printouts lying on the bar; thanks for reading, Jimi’s patrons and staff. Ok…I’m getting to it. The Stone Pony’s been sold, but can anybody give things a chance to settle down in Asbury before letting rumors of its demise take over. Past owner Domenic Santana and his staff went through great efforts to restore it and keep its spirit alive. Santana’s going to still run it and I doubt he is going to let those efforts go in vain. The developers bought the club and have also begun to open other venues in the area. Like everyone else, I am taking a wait-and-see approach. However, the only thing to build Asbury up is optimism, as it was pessimism that brought it down. Until next month C & V… |
