On July 11, 2012 at 10 AM, Hey Cole will be launching an online fundraiser for Hearts and Courage: the Tara Troy Gambardella Foundation. The foundation provides college scholarships to students who want a career in the non-profit sector. It also runs the "Smiles for the Heart" program, which gives children suffering from serious heart related issues a life-changing experience. To raise money for the foundation Hey Cole will be selling sampler CDs of Hey Cole artists, both past and present.
Hearts and Courage, the Tara Troy Gambardella Foundation was formed in 2011 in memory of Tara Troy Gambardella, who passed away last October. The Foundation's goal is to remember Tara's joy of life and to help turn a tragedy into something positive.
In 2001, Tara was diagnosed with Endocarditis, a bacterial infection of the mitral valve. At the age of 21, she underwent the first of two open heart surgeries to replace the valve. After the second valve replacement surgery in March of 2011, she began blogging about her experience in the hopes of educating and encouraging others in the same situation. Tara was excited about starting a family and soon became pregnant. However, during her fifth month of pregnancy, she and her unborn son passed away tragically.
Hey Cole will be selling four different samplers which include music from past and present artists, such as April Smith, Quincy Mumford, Kurt Scobie and many more. All proceeds from each sale will go to Hearts and Courage as all the artists have generously donated their music to the cause. This fundraiser is being launched on the 11th of July as part of Random Acts of Kindness which takes place the 11th of each month to spread Tara's love.
The hope is these acts will have a positive ripple effect on other people's lives, which will spread Tara's love far beyond the people who were in her life. Everyone is encouraged to participate in two acts of kindness on the 11th of each month. It asks for one act to be dedicated to Tara and the other be dedicated to her unborn son.
