Chorus and Verse is seeking freelance writers to provide content
in the form of artist interviews. The ideal candidates will be able
to provide approximately one submitted piece per month, either through
an assignment or by proposing an interview subject that is pre-approved
by the publisher. Unsolicited content will not be accepted.
Articles should typically be 750 - 1,250 words and must be submitted
in an unformatted digital format. The writer is responsible for arranging
for at least two digital photos of the subject to be available for publication
with the interview. The writer should make a reasonable effort to ensure
that all spelling, especially proper names and places, style and grammar
are correct before each piece is submitted for publication.
Chorus and Verse does not pay for album reviews, concert reviews
or other "opinion" pieces. Parties interesting in providing such
content should consider becoming a blogger for Chorus and Verse (see
below).
Freelance writers for Chorus and Verse should be tuned into the web
and social networking trends. Chorus and Verse is very active in using
the web to promote its mission. Freelance writers are encouraged to
use their own social networks to promote their content on Chorus and
Verse, as well as work with their interview subjects to promote Chorus
and Verse content on the artists' websites and social networks.
Freelance Writers will be paid by check for their content within
30 days of their content being published on chorusandverse.com. Standard
rates are as follows:
- $20 for content on local band/musicians
- $35 for regional, established touring bands/musicians
- $50 for national bands/musicians
Pay rate will be determined at the time a piece is assigned. All
paid content is exclusive to Chorus and Verse and may not be resold
or redistributed. Reprinted and non-exclusive content may be used on
a case-by-case basis.
Interested writers should be prepared
to submit writing samples or links to examples of published work.
